How to Choose Elegant Dining Room Furniture

Your dining room can be one of the most important rooms in your home. An elegant dining room serves as a place of refuge from your busy life, and it can be a place where your friends and family come together for intimate, evening dinners. Having dining room and bar furniture that is elegant and stylish can go a long way toward enhancing these moments.
    Choosing Dining Room Furniture:

    1. Match up the furniture pieces. To appear elegant, your dining room furniture needs to match. This extends beyond the dining table and chairs. Any additional furniture, such as buffets or cabinets, needs to match as well. The continuity of the ensemble adds class and creates a classic look. You should also keep in mind your decorative elements as well. Pick picture frames and curtains that don't clash with your dining furniture.

    2. Go for wood. Wood tables are beautiful and never go out of style. Darker stains are the best for an elegant theme. These woods and stains include mahogany, ebony and jarrah. Other beautiful and elegant picks are espresso and cherry red. Ideally, the wood will have a sealant on it that adds shine to the wood. It shouldn't be overly coated and appear plastic, but it should have a slight reflection.

    3. Look at detail. Poor construction is easy to spot. Bolts and screws shouldn't be visible. The table should be sturdy and have no obvious blemishes. The stain and color should be even.

    4. Cover it up. Fabric-covered seats are a great option for elegant dining room ensembles. While an all-wood dining set works as well, upholstered seating allows for customization and further matching with the overall room decor. Dark leather is a great option for a dining room. Upholstered seats also tend to be more comfortable.
